Some of our favorite days of the year are watching our Nurse-Family Partnership® (NFP) families graduate! NFP is a free home visiting service that gives first-time moms valuable knowledge and support beginning early in pregnancy and until their baby reaches two years of age. These moms are given the tools they need to give their babies the best possible start in life.

This past October, we celebrated the 48 families who graduated from our NFP programs in Queens and Staten Island. We are so proud of our families who have gone through the program, and we are incredibly grateful for our compassionate and dedicated nurses.

We are thrilled to have had Dr. Oxiris Barbot, Acting Commissioner of NYC DOHMH, join us for one of our celebrations. Watch this short film about our Queens graduation.

Partnering first-time mothers with caring nurse professionals empowers these mothers to create a better life for not only their children, but also for themselves. NFP has shown to significantly improve birth outcomes, improve school readiness, and reduce childhood injuries, abuse, and neglect. The program has also shown to increase maternal employment, and increase father’s presence in household.

“The great thing about this program is it’s not only about teaching or preparing you to be a mom. It’s about the care they also give you. They prepare you to become a great mom, to love yourself, to value yourself, to know that there is more to this life, and that the sky is not the limit.” – Kiara, NFP Graduate
