About WholeYouNYC
Your health shouldn’t be determined by who you are or where you live. But for too many New Yorkers, that is the reality. Do you live in a safe neighborhood? Have you experienced racism or discrimination? Do you have access to medical care, food and stable housing? Do you have the income, knowledge and opportunities to make healthy choices? All of these influence how you feel and how long you live.
Our disjointed health systems worsen these disparities. Too often, when a person is referred by a healthcare organization to social services, no one follows up to make sure they got help. The burden of finding care is placed on people who need services, forcing them to deal with multiple agencies to access resources. And despite spending $10,000 per person on healthcare each year, our city’s systems fail to support health outside of hospitals and other healthcare institutions.
As a result, New Yorkers have some of the worst health outcomes in the United States, despite all the systems already in place to support good health.
WholeYouNYC works to solve these problems by placing people at the center of care and connecting them to a network of resources to address their needs.
Overseen by Public Health Solutions, this free, trustworthy community resource network brings together more than 300 organizations across all five NYC boroughs, providing services such as food access, housing, employment, legal aid, youth development, health insurance, maternal support, sexual health services, and more.
