Terry Rosenberg, PhD, Sr. Deputy Director, Research and Evaluation at Public Health Solutions Terry Rosenberg, PhD, Sr. Deputy Director, Research and Evaluation at Public Health Solutions set the stage for the ensuing discussion by presenting the findings of a research study conducted at two Public Health Solutions WIC Centers in Brooklyn. Her presentation was entitled “Infant Bed-Sharing among Low-Income Mothers in New York City: Prevalence, Correlates and Added Risks”. provided a clear view of the need to increase prevention education among mothers, particularly those who smoke, drink and/or are obese. She recommended providing education targeted at this high risk population. The study concluded that the most significant influence on mothers comes from the grandmother and not the pediatrician. Dr. Rosenberg recommended developing and offering programs to increase awareness of safe sleep practices at non-traditional locations like senior centers.
