MICHC Facilitates Community Listening Forum
Earlier this month, Public Health Solutions’ Maternal Infant Community Health Collaborative (MICHC) team facilitated a Community Listening Forum.
The forum was attended by women from the Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, and Corona areas of Queens, and was done in partnership with the New York State Department of Health’s Division of Family Health.
The topics covered included: staying healthy, prenatal care, parenting, preventing unwanted pregnancies, mental health, substance use, and community and neighborhood safety. “The input we heard from women at today’s forum will help inform both our own MICHC program delivery and the format of MICHC programs across the state so we can ensure we are meeting clients’ needs and helping women to be as healthy as possible-before, during, and after pregnancy” said MICHC Program Director Rachel Schwartz.
The forum was part of an effort to include community input in planning for procurements, and the information gathered will play a part in the next round of RFPs for the state-funded Maternal and Infant Community Health Collaborative.
