HIV Prevention Intervention Training and Support
|
FITA’s Center for Intervention Training and Adaptation (CITA) is a national project directly funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). CITA assists community-based organizations and state and local health departments that target African-American and Latino youth – especially Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGTBQ) youth – in non-school settings to adapt and implement Evidence-Based Interventions – standardized HIV prevention interventions that have been deemed successful.
The broad goals of the Center for Intervention Training and Adaptation are to: 1) Support minority-youth-serving HIV prevention programs in successfully adapting and implementing EBIs, with particular focus on Street Smart; and 2) Provide capacity-building services to CBO clients to aid in implementing realistic and feasible outcomes-monitoring systems that are CDC compliant.

Health Departments and community-based organizations across the country are struggling to understand and address the impact of the Internet on public health concerns such as increased sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV infection and transmission among MSM, youth, and communities of color. Through its Internet-Based Health Promotion and STI/HIV Prevention Capacity Building Assistance FITA helps agencies create sound, measurable and ethical Internet-based health promotion and STI/HIV prevention strategies and services to reach a myriad of populations through group level trainings and one-on-one technical assistance.
